ABOUT
Yoshiko was born in Japan in a traditional cultural environment. As a child, she studied the Japanese tea ceremony, flower arrangement, and the Koto zither.
She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Kanazawa College of Art. Her classes spanned all departments: Fine Art, Design, and Craft; within Craft, she specialized in textile weaving. She went on to earn her Master of Fine Arts from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, where her work focused on fiber arts. She also held membership in the Japanese Modern Art Association.
After moving to the United States, Yoshiko further pursued her fascination and expertise in fiber arts with a second Masters of Fine Arts degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Yoshiko subsequently worked as a fiber artist for many years. Today, her fusion of skilled craftsmanship and innovative design continues to be expressed in distinctively elegant fashion.
